The DataRush team at Pervasive is seeking a development manager to take on the day to day operations of the software development team.  This team is fast paced, highly technical and growing. 

As the team grows and continues to build more applications on top of the core DataRush platform, development management help is required to ensure optimal execution and success.

The preferred candidate will have direct experience building large, successful products.  Experience with management of the full software lifecycle is a requirement. 

Since the team is small and highly technical, the candidate must have the requisite technical skills enabling decision making and participation in software architecture and design.  Experience in the area of parallel and /or distributed systems is an advantage.

The development manager position requires effectively providing general supervision and direction to members of the DataRush software development team. 

It also requires completing assignments from assigned objectives/goals and resolving problems of moderate scope where analysis of situation/data requires review of identifiable factors. 

Work requires exercising discretion and judgment within defined procedures/policies to determine appropriate action. The candidate must be able to effectively interact, on a daily basis, with functional peer groups on matters which normally involve an exchange or presentation of information. 

The job specifications are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math or equivalent experience.  Requires demonstrated leadership skills.

Other responsibilities/requirements include, but are not limited to:

• May spend a portion of time performing individual tasks related to unit
• Typically manages activities of group composed of development engineers and/or highly skilled technicians
• Provides prompt, effective performance feedback to employees

Required Experience and Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in CS or equivalent
• 7-10 years of industry experience
• 3 years + of Java development
• Experience with multi-threaded programming is a plus
• Experience with relational databases is recommended (many of the concepts within DataRush are similar to RDBMS)
• Self-motiviated and able to motivate others
• Understand the product development process and value the benefits of good quality testing

Preferred Experience and Education: 

• Master’s Degree is a plus
• Experience with data mining and data processing algorithms is a plus
