Description

We are looking for an experienced Unix Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years experience in supporting Linux/Unix in production environments. Candidates must have impeccable written and verbal communication skills and have a minimum of 4 years experience with direct customer support.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Responsible for performing the installation, configuration and support of Unix/Linux servers.
  • Serve as a secondary technical escalation point within Central Operations for Unix/Linux servers and related technologies.
  • Create technical documentation for customer environments, processes, standards, technical training, and support procedures.
  • Provide training and technical leadership to Tier I and Operations Technician personnel.
  • Provide technical support and management of multiple on-going projects with direct participation in complex implementations and enhancements of operations practices.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of critical customer and internal systems.
  • Drive efficient and effective resolution of customer issues.
  • Track performance, utilization, platform growth, and adherence to service metrics for assigned customers.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of monitoring and management infrastructures.
  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent 5-7 years progressive experience implementing information technology solutions is required.
  • The ideal candidate must posses a working knowledge of multiple operating systems (Windows, UNIX, and Linux) along with a strong Internet networking focus.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with prior sales support experience and direct customer support experience.
