The Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of software components.  This position and the recently opened Application Architect position are the initial positions in a new Software Development function at Hosted solutions.   The plan is to start out by picking the initial technologies and tools and starting the Software Development process. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Develops software across a variety of platforms, undertaking design, development, documentation, testing and subsequent ongoing support of new and existing features Typically designs and develops complete features and core components of the product
• Works with Application Architect and VP of Technology to define project deliverables, milestones, and manage risk/dependencies
• Adheres to agreed engineering standards, processes and programs
• Participates in peer review of designs and implementations
• Works flexibly across teams, environments and technologies as required
• Works with internal and external customers to understand business and requirements
• Production of use cases, class diagrams and UML notation

Requirements:

• Education:  BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline
• 2-4 years of Software Engineering experience; usage of data modeling tools, design patterns, UML and OO design methodologies
• Need to have built something new or developed a substantial module from start to finish – major internal project is OK, implementing 3rd party systems is not enough
• Experience of web systems and components; web servers, application servers, databases, transactional systems, content management systems, operating systems, Java/Java EE, HTML, JSP, XML, SOAP, BEA WebLogic or JBoss, Linux or Solaris, and at least one of Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL 
• Experience with running/integrating open source projects and shell/perl/ruby scripting
• Strong System Administration experience (Linux/UNIX)
• Ability to perform in a dynamic team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired:

• 1+ years of Development experience with VMware APIs
• Experience with .NET, C#, and related technologies would also be beneficial
• Experience with CRM deployments (Oracle NetSuite or SalesForce)
